IU Men's Swimming Sets State Records This Summer

IRVINE, Calif. - Indiana University swimmers broke several state long course meter records this summer, Indiana Swimming announced Aug. 17.
Rising sophomore Nick Walkotten turned in a 54.59 effort in the 100-meter butterfly at the Senior Long Course Championships at Purdue University on July 23, setting a new meet and age group record.
Rising juniors Ben Hesen and Todd Patrick, rising senior Lee Houchin and Walkotten teamed to erase an Indiana age group record that had stood for 27 years in the 400-meter freestyle relay, finishing fifth with a time of 3:21.79 at the ConocoPhillips National Championships/World Championship Trials on Aug. 1.
Hesen, rising junior Ronnie Hehn, Walkotten and Patrick also set a new Indiana age group record in the 400-meter medley relay at the National Championships on Aug. 5, again finishing fifth in 3:46.02.
