BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University sophomore swimmer Cody Miller and sophomore diver Darian Schmidt have been named the Big Ten Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Miller, the reigning Big Ten champion in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, swept both events this past Saturday as the Hoosier men took victories over Tennessee and Kentucky. Miller recorded a time of 55.61 in the 100 breast, and his time of 2:00.63 in the 200 breast is an NCAA B cut. He also took second in the 200 individual medley (1:51.97) and helped the Hoosiers to an NCAA B cut and second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:29.93).
Schmidt earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter events to help clinch the win over Tennessee. His score of 329.45 on the 1-meter springboard is an NCAA Zone qualifying mark.
The Hoosier men are back in action Nov. 4-5 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the Wolverines and Texas.
