Huber Named U.S. Diving Outstanding Senior Coach for Fourth Consecutive Year
October 31, 2001
Bloomington, Ind.-- For the fourth consecutive year, Indiana Head Diving Coach Dr. Jeff Huber was named as U.S. Diving Outstanding Senior Diving Coach at the organization's annual convention held last weekend.
"It is a great honor to be awarded coach of the year," said Huber. "It is a testament to the program here at Indiana University and the dedication shown by the athletes."
Huber, 2000 Olympic diving coach, has won the last four Mike Peppe awards from the organization, but that is just the top to his list of accomplishments.
In addition to these awards, Huber is a six-time former Big Ten Conference Diving Coach of the Year and has had 20 Big Ten champions in his 12-year Hoosier career.
His U.S. Diving resume is even deeper. He has coached the Indiana diving program to eight consecutive (four indoor, four outdoor) U.S. Diving Combined Team National Championships with the eighth coming in August of 2001.
He has coached the Athlete Performance Award winner in each of the last five U.S. Diving National Championships. In August 2001 he coached Indiana University senior Erin Quinn to the Athlete Performance Award as well as the Women's All-Around High Point Award.
"This past season was one of the best," said Huber. "I was not expecting to win eight straight titles, but it is a great feeling. The eighth title was probably the most satisfying. It is just a great feeling."
Huber will lead the Hoosier men into action this Friday with a dual meet at the University of Michigan at the Canham Natatoriumin Ann Arbor, Mich. The meet begins at 6 p.m.
