Speed is the Name of the Game at Men's Swimming Practice on Wednesday
November 7, 2001
Bloomington, Ind.-- The Indiana men's swimming team took to the pool this afternoon with one thought in mind: to get faster.
"We started with a longer warm-up today," said Head Coach Kris Kirchner. "Yesterday the main set was very difficult and today's will be as well. We are concentrating on speed and endurance right now and that will be our main focus."
The distance swimmers were doing laps as the sprinters came in after a lengthy workout in the weight room.
"There are two ways to train," said Kirchner. "One is to do it in volume which is what we did yesterday. That is many laps in a period of time. The other way is speed and endurance training."
The Hoosiers get back in competition on November 16-18 when they play host to Evansville, Texas A&M and Cincinnati at the Indiana Invitational. The meet will take place at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center with preliminaries in the morning at 9 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
