November 12, 1999 HOOSIERS BURY HAWKEYES IN DUAL MEET
Bloomington, Ind.-- The Indiana Men's Swimming and Diving team started off their weekend with a 165-135 win over the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
Indiana won eight of 14 swimming events as well as both Diving events. Joe Trent took first place in both the 1000 Free (9:26.33) and the 500 Free (4:36.90). Another strong Freestyle finish came in the 100 Free by Brian Stryker (:46.54).
The Hoosiers also dominated the breaststroke events with a strong 100 and 200 win. Henrick Wahlberg won the 100 Breast (:58.75) while David Schulze won the 200 Breast (2:07.36). For backstroke, Ken Ackermann took the top position in the 100 Back (:50.63).
"We showed definite improvement from last week," said Head Coach Kris Kirchner. "A lot of good times were made. We need to step up for tomorrow though. It is good to have meets back to back," said Kirchner of his team's back-to-back competition this weekend.
The Hoosiers dominated Diving as well. Tom Davidson started off by winning the one -meter springboard event with a score of 326.02. He also placed second in the three meter springboard. Eric Robson made his mark by winning the three meter springboard event with a score of322.77.
Indiana hopes to continue their winning streak as they face the University of Cincinnati in a coed meet tomorrow starting at 2 pm.
