HOOSIERS HOST ANNUAL INDIANA INVITATIONAL
This Week: The Hoosiers will return to the Counsilman and Billingsley
Aquatic Center this weekend for the Indian Invitational. The three-day
meet will start on Friday and finish Sunday afternoon. Friday and Saturday
has prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Sunday's schedule starts with
prelims at 9 a.m. and finals at 3 p.m. Coed teams in this year's invitational
are Cincinnati, Miami (Fla.), Pittsburgh, and Missouri. South Carolina
will send their men's team and Arkansas will send their women's team. The
schedule for the Indiana Invite is listed below.

Ackermann and Davis at the Swim Meet of Champions: Senior Tom Davis
and junior Ken Ackermann competed at the Swim Meet of Champions last weekend
at Northwestern. The two Hoosiers were members of the Big Ten team that
compete against Team USA. Davis had the best finish in the 200 meter breaststroke.
His time of 2:29.24 was good enough for sixth. He also swam in the 100
breast. Ackermann swam the 100 and 200 backstroke. His best finish was
in the 200 back as the finished seventh at 2:17.07.
Upcoming Schedule: The Hoosiers will be off until January. They open
1999 with four home meets.

Big Ten Championships: For the third year in a row, the Counsilman
and Billingsley Aquatic Center will be the site of a Big Ten Swimming and
Diving Championship. The men's Big Ten Championships will be Feb. 25-27
in Bloomington. In 1997 the men's Big Ten Championships were at Counsilman/Billingsley
and last year the women's Big Ten Championships were in Bloomington.
NCAA Diving Zone Meet: Indiana will also be the site of the NCAA Regional
Diving Zone Meet. It will be held Mar. 12-13 and the top qualifiers will
move on to the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Mar. 25-27.
