    HOOSIERS IN FIFTH AFTER FIRST DAY OF INDIANA INVITE

    The Indiana swimming and diving team finished the first day of the Indiana Invitational in fifth place. Head coach Kris Kirchner commented, "We had some good events and swam some lifetime bests. Tomorrow we've just got to race hard."

    South Carolina leads with 257 points. The Gamecocks are followed by Pittsburgh (208.50), Missouri (206), Purdue (196), and Indiana (172.50). Chris Gage had Indiana's only first place with a 4:30.55 in the 500 free.

    Diver Mike Collier came in third on the one-meter. A pair of Miami (Fla.) divers took the first two spots. Rio Rameriz won the event with 588.85 points and Stefan Aherns took with 539.25. Collier finished with 530.50.

    Tomorrow's action will start at 10 a.m. with preliminaries and finish with finals at 7 p.m. All of the action will take place at the Counsilman and Billingsley Aquatic Center.
