Bloomington, Ind.--The Indiana swimming and diving team took first place in the annual Indiana Invitational, which concluded today. The Hoosiers hosted the three-day event and ended up with a score of 1190 points. Missouri placed second with 1056 points, and Southern Illinois came in third with 769 points.
The Hoosiers finished strong in their last day of competition. Indiana swimmers came in first and second places in the 1650-yd event. Ben Hunter finished first with a time of 15:49.85 while Joe Trent finished second with a time of 15:57.28.
Other first place finishes included the 200 meter breaststroke which was won by Henrik Wahlberg (2:02.62). Ken Ackermann placed first in the 200-meter backstroke (1:48.68) while Kevin Euans captured the 200-meter butterfly (1:51.48).
The Hoosiers stayed in first place throughout the entire meet while placing many individual seasons' best times. They will be off from competition until January 15, 2000. Entire results from the weekend can be found on the Indiana Athletics web site (www.athletics.indiana.edu).
