    Hoosiers Place Ninth at the Texas Invitational

    Austin, Texas - The Indiana men's swimming team finished the third and final day of the Texas Invitational. The Hoosiers finished in a tied with TCU for ninth with 93 points. Texas won its won Invite with 721 points.

    Sophomore Richard Bryant led the way for the Hoosiers as he placed seventh in the 1650 freestyle. Bryant went a career best 15:36.39. The time eclipsed his pervious career best by nearly five seconds.

    Freshman Mike Jones and junior Matt Leach finished third and fourth in the C Final of the 200 backstroke. Jones finished 20th overall with a season best time of 1:50.92, while Leach was 21st overall at 1:51.72.

    Senior Dave Schulze placed third in the B Final and 11th overall in the 200 breaststroke. Schulze went a season best 2:01.83 and was only six tenths of a second short of an NCAA B cut time. Junior Robert Dabrowski set a season best in 200 breaststroke of 2:05.18. Dabrowski qualified for the consolations of the 200 breaststroke and placed second.

    Sophomore Murph Halasz placed 15th overall in the 200 butterfly. Halasz bettered his prelim time of 1:50.84 in going 1:50.48 in his final swim.

    Juniors Dale Ramsy and Claes Andersson both qualified for the consolation of the 100 freestyle. Ramsy placed second with a season best time of 45.90, while Andersson was ninth at 46.43.

    Indiana's 400 freestyle relay placed 15th in the final event of the meet. The team of Ramsy, Andersson, junior Mike Payne and sophomore Nicolas Burgess went 3:06.42.

    The Hoosiers will return to the pool on Jan. 11 when they result the dual meet season at Ohio State. The meet is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will be a Coed meet with the women. The diving team will next be in action when they host the America's Cup Diving Meet Jan. 7 through Jan. 12.
