Armengaud Wins Third Flight at Spring Invitational

LAS VEGAS - Indiana finished action at the UNLV Spring Invitational on Sunday, and sophomore Maxime Armengaud capped off a successful start to the spring season by being named the winner of flight three. Armengaud finished the tournament with only one defeat in singles action. The Hoosiers played Louisville players. The Hoosiers were undefeated in doubles on the day and won three singles matches.
Sophomore Jeremy Langer took down No. 81 Andrew Carter in straight sets. After cruising to a 6-2 win in the first set, Langer won the second in a tiebreaker. The win is the second over a ranked foe in Langer's career.
Also coming up big on the day for the Hoosiers were sophomores Will Kendall and Stephen Vogl. The duo defeated Robert Hall and Alejandro Calligari, who were named the tournament winners in flight two of doubles action. Kendall and Vogl won by a 9-8 tally. Langer and Isade Juneau took down Austen Childs and Sumit Gupta (9-8) and Josh MacTaggart and Alex van Gils defeated Andrew Carter and Chidi Gabriel by an 8-5 score.
MacTaggart defeated Robert Hall (2, 3) and Vogl took down Tim Barnoud in three. Vogl fell 5-7 in the first set and won a tiebreaker in the second. He took control in the third to finish it off 6-2.
