Hoosiers Knock Off the Broncos, 7-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana got right on track in the first dual meet of the season, sweeping the defending MAC regular season champs, Western Michigan. IU won all nine matches in the dual.
The Hoosiers got things started with wins in all three doubles matches. Josh MacTaggart and Alastair Barnes made quick work of Simon Blomberg and Pablo Olivarez at number two doubles, winning 8-1. Then Stephen Vogl and Will Kendall knocked off Zeyad Montasser and Marc Shideler, 8-2, at number three. Jeremy Langer and Isade Juneau closed out doubles play with an 8-4 win over Nadin Indre and Ross VanderPloeg at number one.
In singles, Vogl got the ball rolling at number five singles, taking down Montasser, 6-0, 6-4, and Kendall was right behind, taking down Shideler at number six, 6-1, 6-2. Josh MacTaggart was next, knocking off Olivarez at number two by a 6-2, 6-3 tally. Langer got the next win, topping Blomberg at number three, 6-2, 6-2. Up 5-0, the Hoosiers still had a pair of battles on their hands.
At number one, Isade Juneau took the first set 6-4 but fell behind 1-4 in the second. He battled back to win five straight games and win the match, 6-4, 6-4. At number four, Dimitrije Tasic fell in the first set 4-6 to VanderPloeg, but he battled back to win in the second, 6-2. In a 10-point third-set super tiebreaker, Tasic stormed out to a 6-3 lead. VanderPloeg won six out of the next eight to take a 9-8 lead, but Tasic was able to tie the breaker at 9 and 10 and then take the lead 11-10. A Tasic forehand sealed the deal, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (12-10).
