Hoosiers Split Doubleheader, Drop Heartbreaker to No. 16 UK

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Hoosiers split their doubleheader Tuesday, falling 4-3 to the 16th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats and winning 7-0 over Butler. The Hoosiers were led on the day by Josh MacTaggart. The reigning Big Ten Player of the week took down No. 39 Alex Musialek of Kentucky in three sets.
After falling 4-6 in the first set to Musialek, MacTaggart battled back for 6-3 wins in both of the next two sets. MacTaggart also won over Butler's Bryce Warren in straight sets and took both of his doubles matches with partner Stephen Vogl. He is undefeated in singles and doubles in dual matches this season.
Vogl also carded a win over a ranked opponent, beating No. 72 Alberto Gonzalez of Kentucky in straight sets (6-3, 7-5). He is also undefeated in dual matches this season with two singles wins and four doubles victories.
The Hoosiers were unscathed against Butler, with only one close call, as Jeremy Langer's match with Brandon Bayliss when to a third set.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Jan. 28, as they travel out west for three matches in Los Angeles in two days. On Friday, they will play BYU, and on Saturday, they take on Southern California and San Diego State. For complete coverage of IU men's tennis, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
