Hoosiers Fall in Heartbreaker to No. 25 LSU

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Indiana men's tennis (1-4) fell 4-3 to No. 25 LSU on Sunday at the ITA Kickoff event at Mississippi State. The 23rd-ranked Hoosiers fell after LSU's Tam Trinh pulled out the tiebreaker in the third set at number four over Dimitrije Tasic and Roger Anderson finished off Chris Essick at number six. The Hoosiers won the top three singles matches.
In doubles, the Tigers won at number one and number two doubles for the point, but IU got a win from Essick and Tasic at number three by an 8-3 tally.
In singles play, Josh MacTaggart won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at number one, taking down Olivier Borsos. Isade Juneau beat Chris Simpson in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 at number two, and Sam Monette downed Stefan Szacinski 6-1, 6-4 at number three. Mark Bowtell then claimed the match at number five for the Tigers over Daniel Bednarczyk.
After those matches, IU led 3-2. Tasic took the second set at number four and worked to a 6-6 tie in the third, but Trinh won the tiebreaker 7-4 to take a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (4). Anderson's 7-5, 6-7 (1), 6-4 win at number six closed out the IU victory.
