Hoosiers Open with a 4-2 Win Over Columbia

OXFORD, Miss. - Indiana opened the dual match slate of their season against No. 52 Columbia on Saturday. The No. 50 Hoosiers were up to the task, riding key wins from sophomores Jeremy Langer and Will Kendall to a 4-2 win. The Hoosiers open the season undefeated and will play #10 Ole Miss at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.
After winning the doubles point with wins at number one and three, Langer got things rolling in singles. He won in a hard-fought two-set match by a 7-5, 7-6 (5) score. With a 2-0 lead, the Hoosiers were in control.
But then Columbia started the comeback, winning at number one and number three in three-set matches.
Freshman Josh MacTaggart won in straight sets at number four, defeating Cyril Bucher 6-2, 7-6 (1). With the win, the Hoosiers led 3-2 with sophomores Kendall and Maxime Armengaud on court at numbers five and six.
After falling behind early, Kendall battled back for a win in a tiebreaker in the first. He then went on to take the second convincingly for a 7-6 (4), 6-3 final score. His win clinched the score.
