BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men’s tennis recorded two wins on Sunday, over the Salukis of Southern Illinois and the Bulldogs of Butler. After taking a 6-1 win over SIU, the Hoosiers tamed the Bulldogs, also by a 6-1 score. The Hoosiers were undefeated in doubles action and went 10-2 in singles action.
Against SIU, 116th-ranked sophomore Lachlan Ferguson led the way. At number one singles he took a 6-3, 6-4 win, and at number two doubles, he joined freshman Stephen Vogl for an 8-5 victory. Fellow sophomore Santiago Gruter won at number two singles 6-2, 6-3 and at number one doubles with freshman Jeremy Langer 8-3.
Against Butler, the Hoosiers jumped out to an early lead and did not relent. In doubles action, the Hoosiers took all three matches. Langer and freshman Maxime Armengaud quickly took their matches at number four and five respectively. Langer won 6-1, 6-2 and Armengaud won 6-1, 6-4. Next to finish was Gruter who took a 6-4, 6-3 win. With the match decided, freshman Will Kendall took his match in straight sets and Ferguson finished off his opponent in a ten-point third set tiebreaker.
