    Hoosiers Take Win Streak to Six with 7-0 Victory Over Vincennes

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's tennis team continued its winning ways with a 7-0 win over Vincennes on March 25 at the Indiana Tennis Center. The win over the Blazers stretches the Hoosiers' winning streak to six and improves their record to 11-6 on the season.

    "We have been playing well for the past couple of weeks," Indiana head coach Ken Hydinger said. "We need to keep it going, because we have some tough matches coming up with Penn State and Wisconsin."

    In doubles, Indiana took an early lead when its No. 3 team of senior Neil Kenner and sophomore Michael McCarthy picked up an 8-0 win over Chad Burnett and Jordan Burnett. The Hoosiers clinched the doubles point early with a win in the No. 2 position, when junior David Bubenicek and freshman Peter Antons won, 8-4. IU made it a clean sweep in doubles when the Hoosiers' No. 1 team of senior Dmytro Ishtuganov and sophomore Dara McLoughlin claimed a close match over Marius Tangen and Renato Costa, 8-6.

    In singles, the Hoosiers took two quick points with a pair of shutouts from redshirt freshman Mak Kendall over Jordan Burnett 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 6 position and freshman Peter Antons over Chad Burnett 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 5 position.

     

     

    Indiana clinched the overall match when junior Arnaud Roussel defeated Hanna at the No. 4 slot, 6-3, 6-2.

    Indiana's McLoughlin came in at the No. 2 position with a win over Costa, 6-1, 6-4. The Dublin, Ireland, native continued his hot streak with six-consecutive singles wins and 17 for the season.

    At the No. 3 slot, McCarthy picked up the Hoosiers' fifth point with a win over Jackson, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1. IU completed its overall match sweep when Ishtuganov won a close three-set battle against Tangen, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.

    Indiana hits the road for its next match against No. 39 Penn State. The Hoosiers will take on the Nittany Lions on March 27 at 1 p.m.
