No. 34 Michigan Tops IU, 5-2

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Indiana men's tennis (14-7, 2-3 Big Ten, No. 23) fell to Michigan on Sunday by a 5-2 score. The Hoosiers got wins from Josh MacTaggart at number two singles, Will Kendall at number five singles and MacTaggart and Alastair Barnes at number two doubles.
In doubles, the Spartans won 8-6 at number one and took the match at number three via 9 to 7. Barnes and MacTaggart ran through their match at number two, 8 to 1.
In singles, MacTaggart won his second-straight match, knocking off Shaun Bernstein 6-1, 6-1 at number two, evening the score at 1-1. The next match to finish saw No. 10 Evan King defeat Isade Juneau, 6-1, 6-1, to give Michigan the lead back, 2-1. A loss at three gave IU no room for error, down 3-1. Kendall scored he next point for IU, winning 6-1, 6-4 at five over Barrett Franks. Down 3-2, the Hoosiers were unable to dig themselves out the rest of the way.
Barnes fell 6-2, 7-5 at six, and Vogl fell in a very tight match at four. After falling 6-2 in the first set, Vogl battled back to win the second set 6-4. In a third-set tiebreaker, Vogl fell in a tight 10-8 battle.

1 - No. 11 Evan King/Shaun Bernstein (Mich.) def. Jeremy Langer/Isade Juneau (IU), 8-6
2 - Josh MacTaggart/Alastair Barnes (IU) def. Barrett Franks/Alex Buzzi (Mich.), 8-1
3 - Alex Petrone/Michael Zhu (Mich.) def. Stephen Vogl/Will Kendall (IU), 9-7
Order of Completion: Doubles 2-1-3; Singles 2-1-3-5-6-4
