Hoosiers Fall to #3 Ohio State
April 10, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Five ranked singles players and the #3 team in the country proved to much for Indiana on the day as the team fell 7-0 to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Indiana saw tough play from sophomore Lachlan Ferguson and freshman Maxime Armengaud.
Ferguson faced a stiff task in fourth-ranked Bryan Koniecko at number one singles. The Adelaide, Australia native fell 6-1 in the first set, but he battled back to make the second set a good one. Koniecko proved to be the better player on the day, taking the set 6-4.
Armengaud played the only non-ranked Buckeye at number four singles. Chase Buchanan still proved a very tough test. The Buckeye took the match 6-4, 6-3.
Indiana falls to 11-12 on the year and 3-4 in Big Ten action. Ohio State moves to 24-1 and remain unblemished in seven conference battles.
Indiana returns to action on Sunday, April 12, when they host the Penn State Nittany Lions at noon ET. For complete coverage of Indiana tennis, stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com.
