IU Gets Road Sweep Over Ranked Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. - Indiana men's tennis (16-11, 7-3) took a 7-0 sweep on the road over No. 75 Minnesota (10-10, 1-7) on Sunday. The 56th-ranked Hoosiers took the doubles point and never looked back.
In doubles, Isade Juneau and Sam Monette took the win at number one. The 21st ranked Hoosier tandem defeated Billy Bertha and Alexander Kostanov by a 9-7 score. The Hoosiers also got a win at number two as Daniel Bednarczyk and Josh MacTaggart knocked off Alexander Kokorev and Petr Satral by an 8-2 score. The win is the 101st doubles victory in MacTaggart's career, putting him just one away from Jeremy Langer's IU record.
In singles, Chris Essick was the first point in, as he won 7-6 (5), 6-2 at number six over Frederik Stabo. MacTaggart followed him in with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Satral at number two. Juneau clinched the win with his 6-0, 6-7 (8), 6-3 victory at number three over Bertha.
Monette (No. 106) showed why he entered the national rankings this week, taking a straight-set win over Kostanov, 7-5, 7-6 (3). Bednarczyk then defeated Jakhongir Jalalov in a third-set breaker for the win at number five, winning 6-7 (1), 6-4, 1-0 (7). Dimitrije Tasic was the last match to finish, as he won 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (4) over Oskar Wikberg at number four.
