IU Continues Surge with 6-1 Win at Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. - Indiana men's tennis (21-8, 7-4 Big Ten, No. 36) continued a late-season surge, closing out the regular season with a 6-1 win at No. 44 Northwestern (14-9, 7-4 Big Ten). The Hoosiers won the last five matches of the regular season and seven of the last eight. IU got a big win from Josh MacTaggart, who knocked off a ranked opponent for the fourth time this season.
In doubles, IU won at two and three to clinch the doubles point. Alastair Barnes and Josh MacTaggart have won six straight matches at number two and took down Alex Pasareanu and Raleigh Smith 8 to 4. Stephen Vogl and Will Kendall clinched the doubles point with their fifth-straight win, taking a tight match over Sidarth Balaji and Tobias Reitz by a 9-7 tally.
In singles, Vogl started things out with a quick 6-1, 6-3 win over Balaji at number four. MacTaggart came next, taking down No. 124 Spencer Wolf 6-2, 6-1. MacTaggart has won his last six matches, all in straight sets, including three over ranked opponents.
Isade Juneau was the next to finish, ending any drama on the team match and clinching the win at 4-0. Juneau knocked off Josh Graves 7-5, 6-1. Northwestern's only point came next, as Pasareanu knocked off Kendall 6-4, 6-4 at number five.
