    Gonzalez Falls in Indoor Qualifying Bracket

    EAST LANSING, Mich. - Freshman Mario Gonzalez fell in his opening round match of the qualifying bracket of the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Gonzalez dropped a straight-set affair, 6-1, 6-2, to Scott Warner of Purdue. Warner went on to earn one of the eight qualifying spots in the main draw of the Indoor Championships. The Hoosiers have six players in the main draw of the bracket, including a trio of seeded players.

    The main singles draw gets underway on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 8 a.m. The event at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Center runs through Monday, Nov. 14. Along with the main singles draw, there will be a consolation singles draw as well.

    Junior David Bubenicek will await one of eight qualifiers as the No. 12 in the opening round of the championships. No. 13-seeded senior Dmytro Ishtuganov will meet Ohio State's Ty Schaub and No. 15-seed sophomore Dara McLoughlin will face Chaitu Malempati of Iowa.

    Sophomore Michael McCarthy will face a familiar face in Wisconsin's Lachezar Kasarov. The pair met in the qualifying bracket of the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Oct. 21. McCarthy beat Kasarov in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, to earn one of eight spots in the main draw of the regional tournament.

    Freshman Peter Antons and senior Neil Kenner also will compete in the 64-player main draw at the championships. Antons will play Jarred Leibner of Purdue, while Kenner will battle Steve Peretz of Michigan.
