Bloomington, Ind.-- The Indiana mens tennis team opened up its spring season with a loss to in-state rival Notre Dame, 6-1 Saturday afternoon in Bloomington.
The afternoon got underway with the doubles competition first. The No. 3 tandem of sophomores Dmytro Ishtuganov and Neil Kenner picked up the only win for the Hoosiers in doubles, downing their opponents Paul Hidaka and Stephen Bass, 8-4.
Also in doubles, IUs No. 1 duo consisting of junior Ryan Recht and sophomore John Stone were defeated by Luis Haddock and Ryan Keckley. Finally, juniors Jakub Praibis and Ryan McCarthy were also beaten in the No. 2 spot by Brent DAmico and Matthew Scott.
The only Hoosier point of the afternoon came from junior Jakub Praibis, playing in the No. 1 spot. Praibis downed his opponent, Luis Haddock, 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-2.
Indiana returns to action on Saturday, January 24, when they take a trip to Murfreesboro Tennessee to take on Middle Tennessee State University. Match time is slated for Noon.
