BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's tennis team will travel to No. 34 Notre Dame this weekend to open its spring campaign on Saturday, Jan. 22 in the Eck Tennis Pavilion. Head Coach Ken Hydinger sat down with
Head Coach Ken Hydinger:
On how practice has been over the last few weeks:
KH: "We have worked on a lot of conditioning and fundamentals. We spent time working on doubles and trying to eliminate our unforced errors. We have played a lot of sets under pressure, where the losers are running double sprints. We have been trying to work on the whole game of tennis."
On the match this weekend with Notre Dame:
KH: "This is a big match this weekend. They are ranked No. 34 in the country and is an important match for us. It's a good rivalry between the two schools."
On the Irish playing two matches before hosting IU:
KH: "I don't even think about that. We'll both play tennis, put three balls on the court and someone has to win and someone has to lose. That is not a factor. It matters who comes ready to play and who is mentally tougher."
