There were two Hoosiers present in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)'s regional rankings following the fall season. Senior Thomas Richter checked in a No. 9 in the Central Region rankings and fellow senior Dara McLoughlin was slotted 22nd.

Indiana's spring dual match schedule is loaded with nationally-prominent programs. The Big Ten alone has six teams ranked in the top-50, including No. 3 Ohio State, Illinois (#8), Michigan (#21), Wisconsin (#27), Penn State (#40) and Minnesota (#41).

The Hoosiers are also slated to take on a heavy dose in the non-conference schedule. Matches at Alabama (#13) and North Carolina State (#20) will force IU to go on the road and compete against a pair of top-25 squads. Kentucky and SMU also crack the top-50. Indiana begins the season ranked No. 61 according to the ITA.

Richter also makes a splash in the ITA individual national rankings as well, coming in at No. 86. The next time the ITA releases their individual national rankings will be Feb. 20.

Indiana had a successful trip at the Clemson Winter Shootout to begin the new year. The Hoosiers crowned both the singles and doubles champions in the round robin format competition.

Phillip Eilers arose victorious in all four of his matches to win the singles competition. He rolled to his perfect record, never allowing an opponent to reach four wins in a set.

The Hoosiers dominated the doubles play as well, posting a 15-3 overall record. Thomas Richter and Lachlan Ferguson took home the tournament crown by going 5-0 on the weekend.

Peter Antons and Santiago Gruter captured the Flight "A" doubles championship at the University of Louisville Invitational. The tandem won four consecutive matches over the weekend to accomplish the feat.

For the season Antons and Gruter have compiled an impressive 10-2 doubles mark when paired together, including an 8-2 win at third doubles in the Morehead State match.

Freshmen Paul Chappell and Chris Foster both joined the tennis team for the spring semester after transering to IU following the first semester. Chappell is an Indianapolis native and played at Arizona State during the first semester. Foster, meanwhile, comes to Indiana after spending a semester at Allegheny College.
