Hoosiers Face First Big Test in UK Tuesday
Jan. 24, 2011
Coming off an opening weekend that saw them post a 2-0 start, the Indiana men's tennis team heads into a Tuesday doubleheader with confidence. They'll need it as the 16th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats come to town, led by one of the top players in the nation, Eric Quigley. Indiana and Kentucky hit the courts at 1 p.m. ET, and the Hoosiers will also take the courts with the Butler Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
Quigley comes to Bloomington ranked by the ITA as the No. 2 player in the nation. Quigley's last trip to IU was for the 2009 ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, which he won. The Wildcats boast two additional ranked players in No. 39 Alex Musialek and No. 72 Alberto Gonzalez. Kentucky is 3-0 on the season, having won a tripleheader at home on Jan. 23. They tallied victories over Xavier, Toledo and The Cumberlands.
Butler comes to town with a win and a loss. The Bulldogs fell at Wisconsin on Jan. 22 and then took care of Northern Illinois at home on Jan. 23. Indiana has a 13-1 all-time record against Butler with the lone loss coming in 1947. In 2010, the Hoosiers defeated the Bulldogs 7-0.
