    Hoosiers drop close match to William & Mary

    Knoxville, TN--Indiana showed some signs of improvement, but dropped a hard-fought decision to William & Mary today, 4-3, in the first round of the O'Charlies Classic. The three day, round robin, tournament, will conclude on Sunday.

    Senior Derek Pope picked up his first victory of the season at number 1 singles, defeating Christian Jordan, 6-3,6-4. Gabriel Montilla was the only other Hoosier to pick up a singles victory, defeating Mehdy Karbid, 6-2,6-2, at number 3 singles.

    Indiana earned the lone doubles point courtesy of two wins at the 2 and 3 positions. The number two duo of Lippitt and Andrew Held knocked of William and Mary's team, 8-2, while freshmen Brenden Storey and Ian Arons combined to down the number three team, 8-3.

    The Hoosiers will take to the court tommorrow at nine o'clock a.m. against Big Ten rival Michigan State. Indiana will conclude the tournament on Sunday against the host school. That match will begin at 3:00 p.m.
