BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Hoosiers return to action on Thursday, Feb. 15, after more than a week away from competition. Indiana will battle with No. 58 DePaul and Eastern Kentucky.
LAST TIME OUT
Indiana defeated Marquette, 6-1, and Northern Illinois, 6-1, its last time out, on Feb. 3.
DePaul, ranked at No. 58 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is 6-2 on the season. It has won its last two matches, a 6-1 victory over Western Illinois and a 4-3 win over Marquette. George Wang competes at No. 1 singles for the Blue Demons, while Austin Doerner and Jose Moncada team up to form the No. 1 doubles combination.
Eastern Kentucky is 5-2 on the year. The Colonels are 1-2 in their last three matches, including a 4-3 loss to Division II powerhouse Abilene Christian. Lars Gratzki is 3-3 at No. 1 singles. Gratzki and Chad Becker have notched the most matches at No. 1 doubles, going 1-3 on the season.
HOOSIERS IN TOP 60 OF ITA RANKINGS
In the third ITA rankings of the 2006-07 season, released on Feb. 6, the Hoosiers are ranked at No. 60. Indiana began the dual-match season ranked 58th.
BUBENICEK RANKED AT START OF SEASON, HONORED BY BIG TEN
Senior David Bubenicek was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 18 for his performance in Indiana's first matches of the spring campaign. He won his first two singles matches against Morehead State and IPFW, competing at No. 1. Bubenicek is currently 16-4 on the year in singles and 9-2 in doubles. Bubenicek is ranked at No. 48 in the first ITA singles rankings of the year.
