Hoosiers Look to Knock Off Vandy in Nashville
Feb. 23, 2011
Indiana men's tennis has one match this weekend, and it is a big one. The Hoosiers will lock horns with the No. 25 Vanderbilt Commodores. The Hoosiers play Vanderbilt for the first time since an NCAA Regional matchup in 2008, which saw the Hoosiers fall 4-3.
Vanderbilt is led by Ryan Lipman, the 57th-ranked singles player in the country. The Commodores also have two ranked doubles teams, with Lipman and Adam Baker ranked 33rd and Alex Zotov and Charlie Jones slotted 35th. Vanderbilt is 7-1 on the season with the one loss at the hands of No. 41 Nebraska. Vanderbilt is on a five-match winning streak, including the last two at No. 23 Michigan and at No. 67 Northwestern.
Indiana is currently No. 44 in the ITA rankings, led by No. 80 Josh MacTaggart. The Hoosiers are 9-3 this season with all three losses against the top-25.
