West Lafayette, IN - After a five-match winning streak, the men's tennis team dropped its first match of the year to #61 Purdue 6-1 today.
The #32 Hoosiers (5-1, 1-1) started the day by dropping all three doubles matches for the second straight match. Indiana was unable to repeat the feat from the Ball State, when it won all six singles matches. Today, the Hoosiers won only one singles match.
At No. 3, Gabriel Montilla defeated Laith Al-Agba 6-2,6-2. The win improved Montilla's record for the dual season to an undefeated 6-0.
The team took Purdue to three-sets in three other matches. At No. 1, Milan Rakvica lost to Jason Marshall 5-7,7-4,6-0. At No. 2, Ian Arons fell to Derek Miller 6-3,4-6,6-2. Paul Jacobson, playing at No. 5, saw his seven-match winning streak come to an end against Carl McCafferty 2-6,7-6,6-4.
The Hoosiers will try to rebound from today's loss with a
match on Saturday against Louisville. The match will take place
in Louisville, Kentucky and begin at 10 a.m.
