Scouting The Opponents
No. 17 Vanderbilt, is 7-0 on the season, and defeated then-No. 49 Michigan, 5-2, in its last outing on Feb. 13. The Commodores will play at No. 73 Purdue on Saturday, before traveling to Bloomington.
Vanderbilt returns five players from last year's squad that posted an impressive Elite Eight finish at the NCAA Championship.
Senior Scott Brown is ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Assocation at No. 40. Brown and freshman Jason Pinsky occupy the top doubles spot for the Commodores; the duo stands 35th in the nation. The tandem has registered a mark of 7-0 this spring.
Ken Flach, Vanderbilt's head men's tennis coach since 1997, announced on Feb. 24 that he was resigning as of March 1 to accept a position with a new, private tennis club in Naples, Fla.
Eddie Coates, a former Vanderbilt player and Flach's assistant the last two years, has been named interim head coach.
All-Time Versus Vanderbilt
Indiana and Vanderbilt have not met since 2003, when the Commodores won a 7-0 decision in Nashville. The Hoosiers hold a 14-6 edge in the all-time series, but Vandy has won three of the last four match ups.
