BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On the strength of a 12-3 mark this spring, Indiana men's tennis player Jakub Praibis vaulted to 39th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Assocation Player Rankings, announced on March 22. This is the highest-ever ranking for the Litomerice, Czech Republic, product, as he achieved a standing of 51st last year.

The top singles player for the Cream and Crimson has also twice been honored as the Big Ten Player of the Week (Feb. 3 and March 11).

The senior has beaten five ranked opponents this season and 12 for his career. He most recently bested then-undefeated No. 24 Kevin Anderson of Illinois, in a three-set thriller, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on March 5.

In the March 8 poll, Praibis moved from 100th to 56th in the rankings.

Senior Ryan Recht and junior John Stone made their first appearance at No. 56 in the current doubles ranking. The duo is 10-8 on the year and boasts an 8-6 win over Tigran Martirosyan and Jesse Witten, currently 21st in the tandem poll, on March 9.

This is the first-ever national ranking for the IU twosome.

Indiana moved up five places to 57th in the nation.

The Hoosiers will return to the courts at home this Saturday, March 26, against No. 68 Purdue. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m., and will be played, weather permitting, on the IU Outdoor Varsity Tennis Courts.
