On Tap: The Hoosiers (8-5) continue their season with two away matches this weekend against Ohio State and #69 Penn State. They will travel to Columbus, OH on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match against Ohio State. Last year, the Hoosiers defeated Ohio State 4-3. The Hoosiers will then make the trip to University Park, PA for a match Saturday against Penn State. Last year, the Hoosiers were victorious over the Nittany Lions 5-2 in Bloomington, IN.
Weekend Recap: The Hoosiers split a pair of matches over spring break as they traveled down south. On Thursday, they upset #20 Louisiana State 4-3. The men split the singles 3-3, before winning all three doubles matches to win the doubles point.
Super Sophomores: There is no sophomore slump so far for this group of Hoosier sophomores. Paul Jacobson has the team lead with a 22-7 singles mark, including a 11-2 record in dual matches. Milan Rakvica, in his first season with the Hoosiers, has posted a 21-8 singles record, while going 10-3 in dual matches. Together, Jacobson and Rakvica have posted a 7-5 dual doubles record this season. Ian Arons, earned the number one singles position this fall, and so far has proved that he deserves it going 5-6 in dual matches, including an upset over Purdue's Cris James.
Potpourri: Gabriel Montilla has accumulated a 17-12 singles record...Freshman Rahman Smiley has an 9-6 singles record this spring...The top three doubles teams have combined for a 23-14 record in the seven matches this season...Ian Arons and Ricardo Jordan have posted a 11-2 record, at No. 3...At No. 2, Paul Jacobson and Milan Rakvica are 7-5...Smiley and Montilla are 5-7 at No. 1.
Head Coach Ken Hydinger... is entering his 15th season as the Head Coach at Indiana University. He has accumulated a 219-148-1 overall record, while he earning a 98-75 Big Ten record. He has been coaching at the collegiate level for 18 years, coaching at Mississippi State and Southwest Missouri State, before coming to Indiana. During his 18 years of coaching he has collecting 285 victories, with 193 losses and one tie.
Looking to the Future: The Hoosiers will return home for three-matches after their month long road trip. On April 3, they welcome Minnesota. On April 10, Michigan comes to town and on April 11, they face Michigan State. All matches will begin at noon.
