Hoosiers Start Big Ten Season on the Road

Indiana men's tennis opens the Big Ten schedule this weekend with a pair of road contests. The Hoosiers (9-3, 0-0) enter the weekend on a five-match winning streak and are ranked 40th by the ITA. IU will take on No. 38 Wisconsin on Fri., March 26 at 1 p.m. and No. 43 Northwestern on Sun., March 28 at 2 p.m. Indiana looks to improve on a 2009 season that saw them finish 5-5 in the Big Ten.
The Badgers enter the weekend with a record of 10-5 (0-1 Big Ten) and are coming off a loss to Illinois. Indiana leads the all-time series 42-25, including wins in 10 of the last 15 meetings and four of the last five in Madison. The Badgers are led by three nationally ranked players (No. 13 Moritz Baumann, No. 25 Marek Michalicka and No. 116 Patrick Pohlmann).
The Wildcats enter the weekend with a record of 7-5 (0-1 Big Ten) and are looking to rebound from losses to Illinois and Louisville in Evanston. The Hoosiers hold the series advantage at 38-35, and IU has come out on top in the last four meetings. The Hoosiers have won the last four battles in Evanston as well. The Wildcats are led by 115th-ranked Joshua Graves.
LAST TIME OUT
In singles, sophomore Will Kendall blanked Mark Hemy at number five, winning 6-0, 6-0. Ferguson and MacTaggart won at number two doubles 8-0 over Dominic Hemy and Ted Segerfors.
