Men's Tennis Hosts Three This Weekend
March 27, 2013
Indiana men's tennis (9-9, 1-1) returns to Bloomington for three home matches this weekend after spending more than a month on the road. The Hoosiers host No. 51 Michigan State (7-9, 1-2) at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, and No. 35 Michigan (7-7, 2-1) and Butler (8-9) on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
The Hoosiers will look to avenge losses to both Michigan and MSU on the road last season. The last time the two teams came to Bloomington, in 2011, IU emerged victorious. Indiana has won four-straight over the Bulldogs.
Michigan State is coming off a 7-0 victory over Wisconsin, which ended a three-match skid that included losses to Minnesota, Michigan and Western Michigan. The Spartans had high-quality wins over Vanderbilt and South Carolina in January, and started 4-2 before losing seven of their last 10.
The Wolverines are led by a pair of nationally-ranked singles players in No. 15 Evan King and No. 98 Vlad Stefan. Michigan is coming off a loss at home to Minnesota, as they fell 4-3 after leading 3-1. The loss was preceded by wins over Wisconsin, at LSU and at Michigan State. The Wolverines play at Purdue on Friday.
Butler enters the weekend coming off of losses at Western Michigan and at home to Ball State. The Bulldogs have yet to score a point in three matches against Big Ten teams this season.
