MADISON, Wis. - Despite dropping the doubles point, the No. 54 Indiana men's tennis team captured five singles matches en route to a 5-2 win over Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon in the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Hoosiers have won six-straight contests and are now 10-8 overall and 4-1 in league play. The Badgers dip to 6-10 on the season and 0-5 in conference action.

"We started out 0-1 in the Big Ten, but we have won our last four and the team is really coming together," Indiana head coach Ken Hydinger said. "Up and down the line-up guys are contributing. When we get on a roll, we are very strong."

UW won the first doubles match as the team of senior Alex Kasarov and his brother sophomore Lachezar bested senior Ryan Recht and John Stone, 8-6, at the top position.

IU evened the tandem round with a win from senior Jakub Praibis and junior Dmytro Ishtuganov at No. 2. The twosome is now 17-4 overall and 15-3 in dual action. Praibis and Ishtuganov have won their last nine outings.

Wisconsin claimed the lone point as junior Mark Weinig and freshman Jeremy Sonkin upended freshmen Michael McCarthy and Dara McLoughlin, 9-7, at No. 3,

In singles action, junior Neil Kenner evened the match with a win at No. 4.

"Neil's game is on the rise," Hydinger said. "He is cutting down on his unforced errors and is playing well."

The Badgers evened the tilt as Sonkin downed Recht, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2. That would be the last point that the Badgers would claim, as IU garnered the remaining four battles.

Praibis, 39th in the nation, took care of Alex Kasarov, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1, and sophomore David Bubenicek defeated Lachezar Kasarov, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3. Praibis is now 15-3 in dual action, while Bubenicek is 13-2 this spring.

Ishtuganov and senior Tom Bagnato also won in singles action for the Hoosiers.

"Tom had two good wins this weekend," Hydinger said. "We inserted him into the line-up this weekend and he performed for us."

The Hoosiers will return to the courts on Saturday, April 9 for a Big Ten showdown at No. 28 Ohio State. The contest is slated to begin at noon.
