    Go Hoosiers!

    April 5, 2007

Sophomore Peter Antons competes at No. 5 or No. 6 singles for the Hoosiers. He sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com to answer a few questions about himself.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would definitely go to Latvia. I'm the only one in my family that hasn't been there yet, so I would definitely go visit the homeland.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully in a big house right on the ocean, with a pool. All the cars that I want. Doing whatever I want. We'll have to see, I'm not really sure.

What is your favorite sport besides tennis?
My favorite sports besides tennis is skiing. I really love skiing. I've been doing that since I was three years old. I grew up in the Midwest and learned how to ski in Colorado.

What are your pre-game rituals or superstitions?
I like listening to music; it calms me down. Also, when I play the match I think of the song that I was listening to and it gets me in a good mood.

The best thing about Indiana is:
The campus, especially when it's warm out. Everything is green and glowing and happy.

What is your favorite tennis memory?
Winning my first tournament. It was actually the first tournament I ever played when I was ten years old. I actually won and the first thing my coach said was - `don't think this is going to happen every time, that every tournament you play you're going to win.' That is definitely my favorite memory.

Something that many people don't know about you is:
That I speak Latvian fluently. I also went to six weeks of a fully integrated Latvian high school when I was high school, during the summer. We learned about geography, culture, folk dancing, everything.

What do you like best about Coach Hydinger?
He's really motivated, and he really wants you to get better. He honestly lives and breathes tennis.

    Do you have a nickname?
When I was younger some of my cousins called me Pistol Pete. Some people here call me Pistol. I'm not sure why, I guess because of the two P's.

What do you like to do when you're not playing tennis?
Just relax, I really don't have too much time to do that. Going on my computer or visiting friends.
