    HOOSIERS FALL TO HIGHLY RANKED ILLINI

    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Indiana men's tennis team fell to the sixth-ranked and defending Big Ten Champion Illini today 7-0. While the final score was not what the Hoosiers desired, there were some performances to note.

    At number three singles, Scott Lippitt took the defending Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Cary Franklin, to three sets in a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 defeat. Lippitt's record fell to 18-16 overall, 4-7 in duals, and 1-6 in the conference.

    At number six singles, Freshman Paul Jacobson took Illinois' Matt Snyder to three sets after winning the first set en route to a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 defeat. Finally, Gabriel Montilla at number two singles battled hard against the defending Big Ten singles champion, Gavin Sontag, before surrendering 7-6 (3), 6-1.

    The Hoosiers now stand at 7-10 overall and 2-5 in the Big Ten. Indiana will next host Penn State on April 18th and Notre Dame on April 19th.
