    Hoosiers Face Big Ten Opponents This Weekend

    ON TAP...The Hoosiers will continue their Big Ten season this weekend with two away matches. On Saturday, they will face 2nd-ranked Illinois at 1 p.m. and then on Sunday they will take on 34th-ranked Northwestern at noon. Last year, the Hoosiers got shutout by Illinois 7-0 in Champaign, Illinois. The Hoosiers lost two matches to Northwestern last year. In the regular season they dropped a 5-2 decision and then in the Big Ten tournament they lost 4-1.

    WEEKEND SPLIT...The Hoosiers split their two Big Ten home matches last weekend. On Saturday, they lost to #43 Michigan 4-3. The Hoosiers split the six singles matches, but lost the the doubles point. On Sunday, the Hoosiers bounced back with a 5-2 victory over Michigan State. The started the day of by losing the doubles point, but went on to win five out of the six singles matches.

    DIVING FOR VICTORIES...Junior George McGill had a common them e in his two wins over the weekend. He finished each match with a winning diving volley. McGill has been excellent in Big Ten and dual match play this spring. On Saturday, he defeated reigning Big Ten Player-of-the-Week John Long. With that win and a win on Sunday against Michigan State, he is a perfect 6-0 in the Big Ten and 10-4 in dual matches. He also has an overall record of 15-5.

    SUPER SOPHOMORES...Paul Jacobson and Milan Rakvica have been outstanding for the Hoosiers so far this season.

    Rakvica, playing at the No. 4 position, is currently riding an 12-match winning streak in singles. He leads the team with a 14-3 record in dual matches and with a 26-8 overall record. He is second on the team in the big Ten with a 5-1 record.

    Jacobson, playing at the No. 5 position, is second on the team with a 13-5 dual record. He is now 3-3 in Big Ten play, while going 25-9 in overall singles matches.

    montilla reaches milestone...Junior Gabriel Montilla won his 50th career match on Saturday with a win over Michigan's William Farah. With the win, Montilla snapped a personal seven-match losing streak and picked up his first Big Ten victory of the season. He now has an overall record of 19-15 (8-9 dual, 2-4 Big Ten).

    POTPOURRI...Freshman Rahman Smiley is currently 10-10 this spring at the No. 6 singles position...Montilla and Smiley are paired together as the No. 1 doubles unit and they posted a 2-4 record in the Big Ten...Arons, the No. 1 singles player, has made his mark in Big Ten matches so far by posting a 4-2 record.

    DOUBLES TEAM...The doubles team of sophomore Ian Arons and junior Ricardo Jordan have been the Hoosiers most consistent team so far this season. Since the Dual Match season started, they have posted a 15-3 overall record, while going 5-1 in the Big Ten. Overall, the No. 3 team, has posted an record of 18-4.

    LOOKING TOWARDS THE FUTURE...The Hoosiers will finish their Big Ten regular season with two home matches the weekend of April 24-25. On April 24, they will face Wisconsin at noon. Then on April 25, Iowa visits Bloomington for a match beginning at noon.
