    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana opens the Big Ten Men's Tennis Championship against Iowa on Thursday, April 26, at 3 p.m. EST, at host Purdue.

    LAST TIME OUT
    The Hoosiers ended the regular season with losses to No. 17 Michigan (7-0) and No. 41 Penn State (4-3). Against the Nittany Lions, Thomas Richter upset ranked opponents in singles and doubles. He defeated No. 92 Michael James at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 7-5, and teamed with Dara McLoughlin to down No. 51 Ryan Berger and James at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.

    THE CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
    Seventh-seeded Indiana opens the tournament against 10th-seeded Iowa, Thursday, April 26, at 3 p.m. EDT. The Hoosiers defeated the Hawkeyes, 6-1, on March 25. Should Indiana win, it would advance to meet No. 2 seed Michigan at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 27. Indiana fell to Michigan, 7-0, on April 21. The Championships are hosted by Purdue.

    The championship match will be played on Sunday, April 29. The winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

    HOOSIERS IN THE ITA RANKINGS
    Indiana earned a ranking of No. 67 in the latest ITA Fila Collegiate Rankings, released on April 24. The Hoosiers have been ranked as high as No. 56 in the ITA rankings this season (Jan. 10).

    RICHTER HONORED BY BIG TEN
    Junior Thomas Richter, a transfer from Birmingham-Southern, has made an immediate impact after joining the Hoosiers for the spring season. Richter was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week on April 11, after going 4-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles against Wisconsin and Northwestern. He was ranked No. 103 in the ITA singles rankings on March 20, his first ranking of the year. Richter is 13-8 in singles and 14-7 in doubles this season with Dara McLoughlin. The duo has been ranked as high as No. 58 this year.

    BUBENICEK LEADS HOOSIERS IN SINGLES
    Senior David Bubenicek is currently 26-12 on the year in singles and 16-13 in doubles. Bubenicek's 26 singles wins are the most in a season for an Indiana player since Paul Jacobson had 27 victories in 2000. He has earned at least 20 singles wins each of the past three seasons.

    Bubenicek was ranked 48th in the first ITA singles rankings of the year. He has also been ranked in doubles with Dara McLoughlin. The duo has been ranked as high as 50th this season.

    MCLOUGHLIN STEPS UP
    Junior Dara McLoughlin is 23-8 in doubles this season. He has teamed with both David Bubenicek (9-1) and Thomas Richter (14-7) this year. McLoughlin was ranked as high as 50th with Bubenicek, and 56th with Richter.
