Praibis Named Second Alternate
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's tennis player Jakub Praibis has been named the second alternate to play in the NCAA Singles Championships on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., May 23-28.
Praibis closed the season with a 22-10 record and an 8-2 ledger in Big Ten play. The Litomerice, Czech Republic, product earned his highest national Intercollegiate Tennis Assocation standing of 39th overall on March 22.
The top singles player for the Cream and Crimson was twice honored as the Big Ten Player of the Week (Feb. 3 and March 11). The senior downed six ranked opponents this spring and has rolled over 13 for his career.
Should he find his way into the main draw, Praibis will take part in the single elimination tournament featuring 64 of the top singles player in the nation. The draw for the 64-player field will be announced on Saturday, May 21.
