BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Lachlan Ferguson has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District first team, CoSIDA has announced. The honor makes him eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Tues., June 8.

Indiana men's tennis head coach Randy Bloemendaal said that Ferguson has set an example for the younger players on the team and hopes that they will take his lead and use the tools afforded to them at Indiana to excel on the court and in the classroom.

"Our Academic support staff at Indiana is one of the best in the country," said Bloemendaal. "Scott Maxwell has done a great job mentoring, counseling and guiding the men's tennis team to be very successful in the classroom. Lachlan has led the way with the team and has been role model for everyone around him."

This season, Ferguson was key to the Hoosiers success in dual matches. He had a season mark of 12-6 in dual match singles and 18-8 in dual match doubles. His 69 career doubles wins rank as the seventh-most in school history. The Adelaide, Australia, native volunteered his time off the court to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank, the Special Olympics as well as many other local non-profits. He was also named the Ohio Valley region's honoree for the ITA/Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award.
