    Hoosiers Ranked in the Midwest Region

    Bloomington, Ind. -After a disappointing 7-16 season, the Indiana men’s tennis team got a little resolve by being ranked 12th in the Omni Hotels Midwest Region team rankings for 2002. The Hoosiers were ranked 6th at the end of last season in the Midwest Region.

    Milan Rakivca closed out a fabulous Hoosier career by being ranked 9th in the Mid west Region and 70th overall in the nation. He leaves IU as the fifth winningest singles players racking up a 91-54 record. Rakvica was a three-time first team All-Big Ten selection. He finished last season ranked 9th in the Midwest and 58th in the nation.

    Sophomore-to-be Jakub Praibis turned in a stellar freshman campaign of 15-4 with a 5-2 Big Ten record. At one point in the season, the Czech Republic native had a nine-match winning streak. Those numbers were good enough for the 24th ranking in the Midwest for singles.

    The Hoosiers will return nine of its 12 players next season. losing only three to graduation. Indiana’s first home match of next season is scheduled for January 18th, 2003 against Murray State at the Indiana Tennis Center.
