Men's Tennis Inks Recruit

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's tennis team has added Benjamin Zuckerberg for the fall of 2007, head coach Randy Bloemendaal announced today. Zuckerberg, a native of Woodbridge, Conn., is one of the top seniors in the Northeast.
"Ben is a talented multi-sport athlete who had a solid junior career," said IU Head Men's Tennis Coach Randy Bloemendaal. "His athletic ability and his work ethic will help aid him to making a contribution to the team. Ben has not fully blossomed as a player and I believe his best tennis is coming in the near future."
Zuckerberg is a two-time Class LL state champion for Amity High School, and seemed poised for a third straight title in his senior year before being upset in the semifinals. He served as the number one singles player for Amity in all four years of his high school career, earning All-Housatonic Valley honors in each season as well.
Zuckerberg earned all-state honors in Connecticut in both his sophomore and junior campaigns, and earned Connecticut Post MVP honors and New Haven Register All-Area MVP laurels in each season. He also garnered the Southern Connecticut Championship in each of his final three seasons.
A member of the Junior Davis Cup Team, Zuckerberg was ranked in the top five in New England by the United States Tennis Association. He also was a member of the zonal team for three years and was ranked in the top 135 in the nation. Zuckerberg has one sister, Jessica, who swam at Colgate University, and a brother, Jonathon. The son of Sid and Marybeth Zuckerberg was born on Jan. 26, 1989, and is undecided regarding his major at Indiana.
