Juneau and Monette Fall in Singles at ATP Event
July 18, 2012
GRANBY, Quebec - Indiana's Isade Juneau and Samuel Monette both lost opening round singles matches to professional players in an ATP Challenger Tour Event called the Challenger Banque Nationale de Granby. Juneau played his way through the qualifying bracket to get into the meet in singles, and Monette was let in as a wild card, as were the pair in doubles.
Juneau fell 6-2, 6-4 to Daniel Garza, the No. 425 player in the world. Juneau scored rankings points by playing his way through qualifying for the tournament, meaning he should see a significant bump in the world rankings. Currently, Juneau sits at 1522.
Monette fell 6-4, 6-2 to Milan Pokrajac. Pokrajac has been playing professional tennis for six years. Monette, an incoming freshman, and Juneau, both natives of Repentigny, Quebec, will highlight a talented returning group of netters for IU next year.
