COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Senior Jakub Praibis lost a heartbreaking 7-6 (6), 6-4 decision to Stephane Rod of Virginia Tech in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship at the Mitchell Tennis Center Wednesday morning.

In the first set, both players held serve through the initial 12 games to force a tiebreaker. Rod grabbed an early 4-3 advantage, but Praibis won the next two points and jumped ahead 5-4. The Virginia Tech senior claimed three of the next five markers to win the tiebreaker by the score of 8-6.

After both players held serve to start the second set, Rod held, broke and held serve again to take a 4-1 lead in the affair. Praibis battled back with a hold and a break of his own to trim the margin to 4-3. Unfortunately, Rod garnered two of the next three games to win the set and the match.

The two-time All-Big Ten performer closes the year with a 22-11 record. Praibis posted 68 singles victories during his four-year career.
