Bloomington, Ind.- Four Hoosiers advanced to the finals in the ITA National Summer Championships.

Junior Ryan Recht's championship run came to an end in the finals. Second-seeded Chris Martin of Illinois downed Recht in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to claim the title. Recht won five matches, two which came against seeded opponents, before falling to Martin.

"I came in here unseeded, and I knew I could have a good tournament with the home court advantage. I knew I could shock a few players, and I am definitely happy with my results this past weekend. I played the summer tournaments to see if I could take my game to the next level, and so far, it looks like I am doing pretty well," Recht said.

Recht and partner John Stone dropped their doubles semifinal match 8-5 to Illini duo Martin and Evan Zeder. Martin and Zeder went on to defeat Rylan Rizza and Nick Meythaler of Virginia 8-6 in the doubles final.

On the women's side, the team of Kendall Cline from North Carolina and Kendra Strohm from Texas defeated Hoosier seniors Karie Schlukebir and Linda Tran. Cline and Strohm downed Schlukebir and Tran 8-4 in the final. It marked the second straight year in which the Hoosier duo finished runner-up at the Summer Nationals.

"This morning we came into the match with a lot of intensity. We knew it was going to be a tough match and we were ready for it," Tran said.

"Summer circuit is a great way for college players to get ready for the fall season. It enables players to fine tune their game," Schlukebir said.

The Hoosier tandem advanced to the finals with an 8-6 win over Erica Fisk and Jackie Leskovar from Ohio State.

In mix doubles action, Tran teamed up with Florida's Trey Johnson to down Indiana's Dora Vastag and Memphis' Lee Taylor Walker, 8-1. This is the second year Tran and Johnson have teamed up to capture the mixed doubles title.
