    HOOSIERS MONTILLA REACHES FINALS AT NOTRE DAME

    Notre Dame, Ind.--Senior Gabriel Montilla reached the finals of the Notre Dame Invitational A Singles Main Draw with two wins today.

    Montilla defeated Henry Beam of Michigan in Quarterfinals 6-2,7-6 before knocking off Northwestern's Brad Erickson 6-2,6-2. Montilla will play Rice's Robert Collins in the finals.

    Junior Paul Jacobson and sophomore Ari Widlansky also competed at the Notre Dame Invitational, but both were not as successful as Montilla. Jacobson dropped his consolation draw match against Stefan Him of Indiana State 6-0,6-1. Widlansky dropped his consolation match to Michigan's Ron Nanno 6-1,6-1. Together Widlansky and Jacobson dropped their doubles consolation match to Jackie Jenkins and Joast Hol of Northwestern 8-4.

    Montilla will continue play tomorrow for the championship at the Notre Dame Invitational.

    In other men's tennis action today, Brendan Storey and Ricardo Jordan lost in the first round of consolation doubles to Western Michigan's Kyle Gerhoffer and Ryan Maarschalk 9-8 at the Ball State Invitational in Muncie, Indiana.
