Oct. 7, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IU men's tennis team participated in the second annual Down Syndrome Family Connection Buddy Walk. The team interacted with the children in attendance and participated in the fundraiser. The event raised over $20,000 for the National Down Syndrome Society and local organization the Down Syndrome Family Connection. To see photos of the event, click here.
The purpose of Down Syndrome Family Connection is "to promote greater acceptance and understanding of Down syndrome; to educate, inform and involve all people to recognize the uniqueness and capabilities of individuals with Down syndrome and the inherent dignity of all people with developmental disabilities; and to provide education and support for communities, families and individuals living, learning, and growing with Down syndrome".
The Down Syndrome Family Connection is having a Night Out at Bucceto's on Wednesday, Oct. 7th. From 4 pm ET to close, Bucceto's will donate 20% of all proceeds from customers who present the flyer at the top of this story to the organization.
