Hoosiers Successful in Day One of Purdue Invitational

West Lafayette, Ind. The Indiana mens tennis team opened its fall tournament season at the 2003 Boilermaker Invitational by winning all its doubles matches on Saturday, Oct. 18.
In the doubles action, Indiana defeated Toledo in all three matches. Sophomores Neil Kenner and Dmytro Ishtuganov downed Khalid Al-Nabhani and Tony Tran 8-5, freshman David Bubenicek and junior Tom Bagnato downed Cristobal Toral and Travis Curran 8-3 and junior Ryan McCarthy playing with associate tennis head Matt Pledger downed Freddy Gomez and Todd Wojtkowski 8-0.
In singles action, in their Hoosier debuts, Kenner won both his singles matches, defeating Ravi Pathanjali of Western Michigan 6-4, 6-2, and Troy Havens of Purdue 6-3, 7-6 (1), while McCarthy defeated Western Michigans Justin Kates 7-6, 6-3.
Indiana will be on the courts at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19 when it takes on Toledo in singles action. Indiana will then begin doubles action at 10 a.m. when the Hoosiers take on Butler and Northwestern at 1:30 p.m.
