Madison, Wis. - The Indiana men's tennis team is in action at its first major event of the Fall this weekend, competing at the ITA/Omni Hotels Midwest Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
Tom Bagnato, Ryan Recht and Jullien Vulliez all saw action in the qualifying round of singles, with Bagnato and Vulliez claiming victories. Bagnato picked up a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win over Western Illinois' Patrick Lowder. Vulliez would not have such an easy time with his opponent, edging Michigan's Vinneth Gossain, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Bagnato will face Toledo's Dipesh Rao tomorrow in second round action, with Vulliez facing Michigan State's Cameron Marshall.
As for Recht, he lost a 7-6(4), 6-3 match to Illinois' Conner Murningham.
